Betsy Hills Bush

Betsy Hills Bush brings to her role as grant writing consultant with Mathiasen Associates over six years as a program officer with the Westchester Community Foundation. In this capacity, she oversaw $3.8 million in grants distributed to Westchester County nonprofit organizations working in the areas of youth development, education, women and girls, the arts, and capacity building, among others.

As program officer she read dozens of proposals, led review committees, made site visits and made recommendations for funding. In other words, she knows what proposals must say if they are to have the best chance for getting funding. Her writing skills are superlative. In her early career, she worked as a radio journalist and later as a freelance writer, and her work appeared in regional and national publications. Betsy is also an Adjunct Professor at Pace University, where she teaches a graduate-level course in fund raising.
